Louis Dauphin, male, colored, single, aged 23 years, native of New Orleans, La. recommended
his commitment to the State Insane Asylum at Jackson, La. on December 29th, 1882, finding him
suffering from Idiocy.
This man, who looks like a boy of fifteen, is sluggish in his speech and movements, and
indifferent. His half sister informs us that he has never been able to make a living. A brother died
in a state of idiocy, and his mother is at times demented. Heredity is the cause of his disease. His
half-sister does not seem to be very intelligent.
